Dance Audition Format
Upon arrival to the dance audition (dance auditions take place during class time on November 18), each actor will be given a pre-assigned number that should be pinned to their clothing, and they will have their photograph taken. They will reuse the same number at their vocal/ acting audition on November 23rd.  We will collect numbers after the audition and we will have them waiting for them to reuse at their vocal/ acting audition time slot.  Dance auditions will begin with the whole group learning and performing a short, simple dance combination (dance experience not necessary).

Callbacks
Callback auditions will be Monday, November 25, 4:25pm- 6:00pm at Calvary Church (Auditionees will finish at different times and can call parents to pick them up, the latest we will go is 6pm)
. A callback is a list of students that the directors would like to hear read or sing again for specific parts. A callback list will be posted on our website on Saturday, November 23rd. Only those performers listed on the call back need to attend this part of the audition. Remember, just because you are not called back does NOT mean something bad. The callback is simply an opportunity for directors to have additional readings for specific roles with a select number of actors.

CALL BACK AUDITION INFORMATION- Callbacks consist of cold readings from the script.   Callbacks will also be singing the song for the character that you are being called for. * Be familiar and prepare the provided sides/ scenes/ songs.

Commonly Asked Questions & Answers Regarding Auditions
Auditions will be closed (meaning only children auditioning will be allowed in the audition room). Parents can wait in the lobby or can drop children off and pick them up as they finish. LYT shows are part of our theatre education process and all students in our theatre classes are cast in our shows.
As with all auditions, there may be some actors who are not cast in the role they are hoping for. It is important to understand this before auditioning and for parents to help prepare their children for this possibility. It is our goal to cast the best actor for each role while considering the many factors that influence casting: singing (quality and range), acting (character, diction, timing, projection, etc.), dancing (character movement and skill), height, physical appearance in relationship to others being cast, connection to the audience, ability and willingness to take direction, respect for directors and other performers, and overall attitude.

Please continue on to our Additional Audition Information Page to answer even more questions, such as Why does LYT hold “closed” auditions and call backs?, Who participates in the casting process?, How does my child find out what he/she has been cast in the show? , The Casting Process and more.
